Susan 21st August 2020

Dear Ivan, Martin, Lewis and families, We are so sad to hear of Lin passing - she has been in our lives since I was very young. The Freemans spent many a Christmas with the Castles at Watson's Bay, and in the last ten years (particularly after Erina passing) we have connected each year for a Christmas catch-up. I will miss that very much. Many memories from Dural, Watson's Bay and Clareville in Sydney endure, but one in particular remains well scribed: Al (as we called her) was brave/mad enough to agree to look after Rosie and I when mum and dad, Les and Erina, went away for a weekend. Of course (aged 4 and 6) we raided her room. With the door firmly shut we discovered the make-up bag - lipsticks became crayons, powder a missile, and we coated all surfaces - including ourselves. On discovery Al was apparently very cross, but she never betrayed us to mum and dad on return. True, funny, caring, and a twinkle in her eye, she will be remembered with such great fondness. With lots of love, Susan
